There were three variants of the first generation Xenia in 2004, all of which were only equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission, namely Mi, Li and Xi. The Mi and Li variants use the EJ-DE DOHC 1,000 cc engine, while the highest variant Xi is equipped with the K3-DE DOHC 1,300 cc.
Then Xenia was beautified in July 2006 with a minor change. Its face looks fresher because of the new design of the grille, bumper, and headlights.

The second generation Xenia came in November 2011 with one of the key features, namely double blower AC. This model is available in four variants, namely D, M, X and R. The D and M variants are equipped with a 1,000 cc EJ-VE engine which is only available with a manual transmission while the X and R use the 1,300 cc K3-VE.
The first refreshment of the second generation appeared in May 2013. Xenia is increasingly luxurious with chrome accentuations on various ornaments, the seats are made more comfortable and the noise level is reduced. In this model, Xenia is equipped with a dual SRS airbag safety feature.
In August 2015 the next refreshment came with a concept called the Great New Xenia. Daihatsu made changes to the fascia, modern features and a new engine.
In total there are 11 Great New Xenia variants offered with two engine options, namely 1,000 cc and 1,300 cc. The 1,000 cc engine is the same as before, EJ-VE DOHC VVT-i, while the 1,300 cc has changed its code to 1NR-VE DOHC with dual VVT-i.
Xenia was refreshed again in January 2019 when it celebrated its 15th anniversary. The most obvious changes in this model are the tiered headlights and there is a new variant with a 1,500 cc engine.
The third generation of Xenia was born in November 2021. Daihatsu took the bold step of producing Xenia using the new Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA) platform which makes it a front-wheel drive car. The engine options are 1NR-VE 1,300 cc and 2NR-VE 1,500 cc. Especially the automatic transmission was changed to CVT.
